Particularly for cystitis, and infections of the urinary tract. This herb has been used with great succes on mares who suffer recurrent bouts of cystitis, in combination with couch grass, marsmallow and clivers. An American herbalist told me that she uses uva-ursi to help geldings and stallions whose sheaths have become infected, or who are difficult to clean or who have an overproduction of smegma. Since then I have used this herb succesfully on a couple of geldings and stallions. This is not a short cut to good horse management, and should only be used if the horse will not allow normal sheath cleaning or if infection is present. Uva-Ursi should not be used repeatedly or on a long-term basis. It is important to get to the root of the problem and take steps to stop it recurring. DOSAGE: 10 grams of the herb daily.
